Scott Thomas Lowe POETRY

your smiles are lovely to look at
your laughter is lovely to hear
your hand I am told
is lovely to hold
but I never venture that near
the people you see
the ones that you date
are all very witty and bright
and not one of them
is a bit like me
out all alone here tonight
you never see me at the bar
when the jukebox is playing so loud
am I transparent
or terribly small
or just hard to see from where you are
you live at the center
I live at the edge
and our paths will never cross
the scenes that you enter
the words that you pledge
aren't worth
all the time
that they cost
